Newrest-Matmut makes a pit stop in the Azores
Fabrice Amedeo sails through to the first stop: The 60-foot IMOCA has been docked since Thursday morning at the Horta Marina.
After 5 days of navigating the waters, Fabrice Amedeo’s 60-foot IMOCA arrived safely in the Azores archipelago. According to his blog post, Fabrice was happy with his journey, during which he was able to test out the work that was done to the vessel. He writes, “It’s only my second time coming to the Azores, but it’s always magical, with the dolphins, marine mammals, and the volcano peeking through the clouds above Peco island… it’s a warm welcome from Horta Marina.”
As soon as the new rudder arrives, the team will be heading back out to sea on their way to New York, the first stop along the solo voyage Vendée Globe: New-York transat.
